In this blog post, we’re going to look at change in a positive way.
I understand that some changes in life can be negative. Examples of this include when someone dies or we lost our jobs etc. I will be covered this type of change and how to overcome it in a blog next week. This week I’d like to focus on positive change.
What does the word change mean for you?
For me it means “Becoming different”.
Change is happening all around us all the time. The journey of life is full of change; we learn to walk, go to school, work and so on. The seasons change all around us every year. But, how do you cope with change? Everyone deals with it differently, some better than others; even if the change you’re experiencing is positive, the transition can be tough.
As the Dalai Lama says; “Happiness is not something readymade. It comes from your own actions”. Sometimes people hold back on their actions towards happiness because of a fear of change. Whether it’s turning down a promotion because you’re scared you can’t manage the extra responsibility or saying no to a great opportunity incase you fail.
When going through change, you have a great opportunity to do something that makes you truly happy.
How can I embrace the change around me?
Change is a great time to improve your satisfaction in areas of your life you are not happy with at present. Think about what you would do if you knew you could not fail? What was that dream you once had, do you still have it? What goals do you want to achieve?
Write a list of all the things you’d love to achieve if there was nothing holding you back. This will give you a clear idea of what you really want and the direction your life could head in if you embrace the change.
As you all know I’m a big fan of visualisation. So visualise what it will be like when you have achieved your goals.
If visualisation doesn’t work for you, another way of bringing your goal alive is to create a vision board. Pin pictures of all the things you love on your board and place it where you can see it every day so you don’t lose vision of your goals and aspirations.
Knowing what you want is the first step to achieving your dreams. List all the things that need to be put in place to achieve your goal, and how you can work towards achieving them. After all, nothing changes unless you change them.
Go for it & enjoy life more: Chose a positive attitude whilst you’re on your journey of change. Look at things in a different way. Life isn’t easy but it’s how we deal with it that matters. Perhaps most importantly, stop comparing yourself to others and don’t put yourself down. Don’t allow others to put you down or treat you with a lack of respect. Value yourself, after all; you are important.
